Suspension of Friday prayers and Madrassah classes
12th March 2020
Re: Suspension of Friday prayers (Jumuah Prayers) & Madrassah classes
In light of the current developments and preventive measures introduced by the Irish government to stop the spread of Covid-19, all Friday congregational prayers and Madrassah classes in the Islamic Centre of Ireland and Mosques associated with the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council are suspended until further notice.
Muslims are advised to pray Zuhr prayer instead in their homes.
We pray that Almighty Allah protect all humans from the harm of this pandemic disease, Ameen.
I urge all Muslims in Ireland to cancel functions and gatherings to stop the spread of Covid-19 and to use this time to pray to God for the safety of all humans.
Yours Sincerely,
Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri
Chair Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council
Chief Imam & Mufti Islamic Centre of Ireland
