On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha the Minister of State Mr. Leo Varadkar visited the Islamic Centre prior to the Eid prayer and addressed the worshippers. He congratulated the Muslims for the festival of Eid and said he was there “to recognise the fact that Dublin and West Dublin in particular has become a very diverse part of Ireland and sometimes misunderstanding goes with diversity and I feel that I’ve a role as a local representative really to embrace that diversity and recognise it in all its forms.”

The Minister also congratulated the Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council which organised donations for refugees in the Blanchardstown Islamic Centre and the Cork Mosque.

We thank the honourable Minister for visiting the Islamic Centre on such an important occasion and appreciate that not only the presence of Muslims in Ireland is acknowledged but also their success in integrating in the Irish society.

Many refugees follow the Islamic faith and on 23rd September the annual “Eid-ul-Adha” will be celebrated by Muslims worldwide. This is an Muslim holiday commemorating the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham. It is like Christmas for the Christian brothers and sisters.

We would like to bring necessary supplies to the refugees before Eid and therefore are organising in collaboration with IMPIC (Irish Muslim Peace & Integration Council) to bring supplies to Calais before Eid. These supplies will be distributed to all refugees irrespective of their faith.

In Dublin 15 the Islamic Centre  is a collection point for supplies. Please find below the details of items urgently required.

We appeal to all to donate generously for the brothers and sisters in humanity in need.
